Grumpy heat shield

Post by Mr Spigot »

I am looking for a Grumpy heat shield to protect the fuel pipe from exhaust pipe heat. ESM sell the kit but it also contains a carburettor shield which I do not need.

I don't think the parts are available separately.

When you fit the rising fuel pipe shield you may find that you have to alter the curve of the fuel pipe bend as it joins the fuel pump. To avoid kinking the pipe take great care with this. If anything other than a small adjustment is needed you will need a pipe bender.

The heat shield works very well and since I fitted mine I have had no further trouble with fuel vaporisation in hot weather. I have had issues with the fuel pipe rattling against the heat shield though. It may take some observation with the engine running and some further gentle bends to get right.

Thanks. I thought that was probably the case. I am wondering if it might be easier to make one out of some aluminium sheet so I can bend and cut it to fit my pipe bends.
