Hello,
Steering Rack Gaiters have only lasted just over a year (~3500 miles)
So I’ve decided to try the Nitrol Rubber type from ESM - have other people found these much better ?
Kind regards.
Steering Rack Gaiter failure again !.

I am helpinga friend restore his Mini. We recently discovered that almost all of the seals and bushes fitted over a year ago (and never been on the road) are perished. We have removed the rear sub frame again to replace crap rubber bushes with polyurathene. The quality of many replacement parts currently on sale is absolutely shocking!

Rubber is not the only compound that seems to deteriorate much faster than it used to. I still have a plastic laundry basket from the late 1960's that shows no signs that it will crack or split yet I would not like to think how may plastic items that have failed in apparently no time at all.....Jim McCrae wrote: ↑Thu Jun 19, 2025 7:17 pm I am helpinga friend restore his Mini.
