Traveller Foot rail closing panel

Post by marcollison50 »

Does anyone have a source for ordering a rear closing panel? It is a sheet metal, somewhat angular piece that is attached to the bottom wood step rail area directly behind the front pillar. After applying sealant it is screwed into the bottom of the wood frame and is placed there to protect the wood from moisture and road rash.

I tried to post a diagram from Morris Minor Body Service Parts List- For inquiring minds, it is Part 53-02- 374/75 as in Left and Right side. They were listed on Woodies.com but are not readily available.

Thanks for any help in finding a source to order them.

ESM surely sell them? Those available which you have pictured, are a poor replica of the original. I made a pair for my Traveller using the original as a pattern. The piece which goes up into the wheelarch should be longer (reach further up) to cover the hole. It should also be a 90 degree angle NOT a 45 degree one.

Thanks for your response. Since Woodies and ESM carry so many related parts it seemed that they would carry it. I have a feeling that I will be fabricating a set of caps and will take your advice regrading the extra length for the wheel arch.

Is this not the one on ESM?

These niggles wouldn't exist if only suppliers used to original part numbers and descriptions, which they do for some items but not that many....

As far as I can see in the Part List, if I've found the right bit, they're called : 'Plate - Sealing - Floor to Body Side'.
Part numbers ADA 800 and 801, for RH and LH sides respectively.

As Sergi the Meerkat would say...'Simples'....

Perhaps there's a copyright issue with some part references and not others... :-?

Thank you. Got it! The computer search bar didn't like the name. Mystery solved!
