When going to car shows, I always find it interesting to see what people have written about their cars and their history. Sometimes, just saying what it is and something about it is enough, whereas others have long or very interesting histories going back many decades. I was prompted to write something for my cars after seeing one write up on a car, detailing the extensive refurbishment carried out many years ago. It ended with the words; “To this day my wife does not know how much it cost.”
While we all know about our cars, there are new generations coming up who might never have seen them before, and I include a brief history of the models as well as details of the history of our ownership and the modifications and points of interest on the car. If nothing else, it often prompts conversations with passers-by. I have printed my words on A3 sheets and put them in a frame to prop up at the front of the cars at shows and most passers-by will stop and look.
As the show season starts, I would urge members to write up something about their cars for shows and not only raise awareness of the marque, but also share your journeys of ownership, which we all have some interesting tales about.

Here's what Basil had last year, 2023 'updated' for 2024, on a laminated A4 in the side window...
Basil the 1955 series II

Re: Tell them about it
With my information boards I add a splash of colour and interest, with this tax disc montage.
All but the oldest three were bought by me.
A couple of years aren't there, because they'd disintegrated in storage, probably due to exposure to some automotive solvent's vapours.
Like the 1956 bill of sale (to my uncle), and the original log book, I take laminated copies to the shows; not the originals!

Nice information boards. I do go to shows with "Xavier" (XPK 794G) but I haven't go round to making a board. I am now spurned on to do so. This year I am already booked for Broadbridge Heath, Capel, Warlingham and Edenbridge and Oxted but there will be others. This year he will be on MoT to the Loire Valley in France. I find myself talking to people so much that by the end of the day I am hoarse!
