Hello all, am new to this forum and was wondering if anyone can help with a bit of advice.
I have 2 minors - a 2 door with a great 1275 midget engine and gearbox and front disc conversion. Also a 4 door 1098 with standard drums brakes.
The general condition of the 4 door is magnitudes better than the 2 door. However the engine in the 4 door has low compression (80psi across all cylinders) and leaks from every possible orifice and all the front brake cylinders need attention.
I was considering swapping engine, box and diff, and front brakes from the 2 door to the 4 door, but it struck me that the mounting points, gear lever positions etc. relative to the bodywork and engine might not quite be the same between the 2 door and 4 door shell.
Anyone done this before or know for sure whether running gear from a 2 door will drop into a 4 door without modifying mounts and brackets?
Thanks in advance for any help.
