Re: Vanessa '68 2dr saloon
More progress being made now that I'm back working on Vanessa having put other projects aside. Nearside completed and a start made on the offside. The inner wing needed a lot of work to get it to fit. I spent a lot of time fitting the wing to get the front edge aligned and the new flange and wing fixings correct.

Good stuff! It's not easy working in garages in winter. The cold is most unpleasant!
Over on the Facebook group a chap had his garage burn down losing his Morris and months of restoration work. Do be extra careful with welding and potentially inflammable stuff nearby.

Good session today drilling out the spot welds, removing the inner wing and cleaning up the flanges. Upper rear chassis leg is sound, lower section which houses the rear spring hanger is heavily corroded and is a mass of patches.

I'm starting to work less so will have time to make more progress so expect more regular updates.
Today prepared and welded the lower repair panel in the o/s rear wing.
View from inside the car Panel held with Cleco clamps Dressed and sprayed with weld through primer. Join will be skimmed with filler once rear wing flange is welded in .

Good run today- tacked in the right rear wing flange and welded in the repair flange.
Lots of clamping to keep it tight. Wing bolted on to ensure flange location is correct. repair flange tacked in place.flange welding completed. next stage is to install the inner wing. From my experience on the other side this will require extensive adjustment.

I'm instantly reminded just how fortunate I am that my 57 is so solid after 68 years
