Problems searching

Post by Mr. V »

I'm having problems searching topics such as, say, "Dirty engine oil". Whatever I do I get all posts containing the words "dirty" and "engine" and "oil". How can I get round this?

Thanks.

I think you'll find the 'Oil' and 'Engine' are in the Ignore List set by Admin, simply because the words are too common in a forum concerning vehicles.

You would get a great deal more results with those words included.

This is a known problem with the built-in search facility. However, there is a work round: Open a brwoser with Google and in the search string type something like:
site:board.mmoc.org.uk "dirty engine oil"
This will return the topics that match. Surprisingly, there are only two topics, and I suspect that they will not be what you want; but give it a go.

Thank you for that, Mr Simmitc. I've had the same problem.

This could be why we ask so many questions on the site as it can be had to find answers as advised.I guess it's easier and quicker to simply ask.
