Oil Filter replacement

Looking at replacement oil filters I don’t know if any are better or worse but I’ve attached a couple of photos numbered 1&2 can anyone advise which would be better or recommend a make and where to purchase from?

Personally, I doubt there is any difference between the two in terms of filtration............I have used filters similar to both in the past without issue.

Personally I prefer No.1 photo. It allows debris carried in the oil to get trapped in the filter element whereas the other filter has some kind of wrap with small holes that will prevent that happening as effectively.

Then again, if the oil flows from the inside of the cartridge then there'd be little difference.

Either of those oil filter elements pictured above will do the job of filtering the engine oil.
Just remember to replace the sealing ring with the appropriate size ring.
The oil flows from the outside of the filter to the inside of the filter.
No matter how good the filter is at filtering the oil a certain amount of oil will by-passes the oil filter via the by-pass valve in the filter head therefore not all engine oil is filtered.
As regards the holes in the filter wrap - if you have crud circulating in the oil system that is restrained by the filter wrap then you have trouble.

This is much more important than slight differences in the filter element.

Sometimes inexperienced owners throw away the pressure plate with the old filter because the pressure plate invariably sticks to the old filter. If the new filter element is fitted without the pressure plate and spring, the oil is not filtered at all!

I would choose No 1.

I would stick with those recommended in the Morris Minor parts catalogue.
Determined by the engine, which engine do you have ? Do you have the oil filter with pressure switch ?
Get a copy of the Morris Minor parts catalogue, it will be well worth it in the long run.
Give Tom Roy a ring, let them know which engine you have, they will supply the correct item.
