Glad it’s sorted. When exactly did you suspect the condenser?

Re: Electrical Issue After Trying Rev Counter
Hi Oliver90owner,
I suspected it was the condenser after I'd tried known good components and the condenser was the only thing I did not have a spare of.
A quick order from Minispares and it was running again in moments, along with the rev counter working too

Most certainly not the impression I got when (carefully) reading your initial post. That’s all.

Hi oliver90owner,
granted it wasn't what I suspected initially but with all the help I had on here and a stock of known good items (coil, distributor cap and leads) to perform the recommended tests, it had to be the condenser.
I think you may have read my message like I thought that all along which is certainly not the case.

Re: Electrical Issue After Trying Rev Counter
I think the saying "It's never the coil" refers to an earlier era. The idea was that a 'vintage coil' would last 'for ever', but that many more modern ones were less reliable. The coil currently in my car has a look of the 70's/80's to me. My spare, which is a known good one, is even earlier - possibly the original from 1955!
