Seat belts
Hi all, I have seat belts fitted in my moggy, but to be honest they are uncomfortable and I was contemplating replacing them with lap belts instead. My question is are they still legal (the car is a '68) and probably would have had them fitted as standard originally and would I come across any problems. I have seen brand new examples of the buckle lap belts available.I have an elderly parent who sometimes travels in the car and they find the seat belt awkward as the top mount is behind there shoulder below the side rear windows.Any ideas or comments welcome, thanks
Re: Seat belts
I gather from your description that you have a 2-door saloon or convertible. I agree that those belts are not as comfortable as a Traveller or a 4-door. So far as I know, lap belts are still legal, but I cannot see why anyone would want them - a little discomfort is surely preferable to potential injuries? A foam pad on the choulder to ease the pressure of the belt might be a better solution.
