Is this a new speedo problem with the original car transmission or have transmission changes been made or has the speedo been changed. Look at the numbers on the speedo and then look here https://potteries.mmoc.org.uk/ID/Speedo.htm

Well the Speedo and the fuel gauge are two entirely different things so not connection between the 2 faults.
Speedo is a mechanical drive, fuel gauge is electrical.
Speedo may be a stiff cable, remove the cable from the car and give it a clean.
What engine/transmission has it got? Original or later ones?
Fuel gauge, that requires some knowledge of basic electrics.

It’s got a 1098 engine in it
I will take the speedometer cable out and give it a clean
Cheers for all your help

Hi David
Just a small tip.
When replacing the inner cable, be sparing with the lubricant. Too much and it can be transported into the speedo mechanism, creating a mess.
