Do oversize door pins work well
Do oversized door pins work well , are the hinges easy enough to drill out I have door off and hinges off the door end. Tried standard pin but wears in the hinge section that mounts to the pillar, It’s to hinge on travellers / bottom pin is tight no problem so leaving it be .
Having trouble finding some to sell over size pin and drill if buy separately here in n.i double postage adds about £8

With care the hinge pin holes can be easily drilled.
Both the pin @ £2.95 x qty ? and the drill @ £4.95 qty 1 (both plus VAT) are readily available from ESM.

Re: Do oversize door pins work well
If you are replacing the Philips headed countersunk screws with the hexagon headed bolts you may find that the door will not close
The Philips headed screws were fitted for a reason.

Re: Do oversize door pins work well
Fitted to the body pillar the door closes no problem as the hinge is countersunk. Mines a traveller as you know 2 door don’t know if it makes any difference .
They are great ( but expensive ) and have a pointed end to assist in alignment of the stud to threads.

Re: Do oversize door pins work well
Walking around checking car is ready to paint discovered
the son in law had driven my oversize top door pin in from bottom fair but he had just barely caught the top ring of hinge , you will know it’s almost impossible to drive pin up once door is fitted. Bolts and all were all good and 1/2 the heads off to assist with clearance and put in with quick grip strong lock tight. So me not well asked friend who’s a fitter if he would get the pin right in , I left him to it he cut above the hinge about 1/2 into door bent the we bit back and drove a spare pin down through from the top , then welded the cut up and buffed. I asked why he thought the door was closing so nice he did not want to take both hinges off again to try to reset. So maybe not ideal but have to admit it took him about 20 minutes and worked very well , so just in case anyone having trouble with that pin in particular it’s an idea.
