rear diff temperature normal driving

hello fellow members just wondering as when I drove Morrice for a road test 20 miles which has a Morris marina axle fitted after doing a diff oil change using Castrol classic ep90 I was looking underside and checking for leaks I noticed the diff was hot to touch is this normal.

The oil in the diff will get hot by the actions of the interactive parts even when driving normally.
My Ser 2 had a Marina rear axle fitted and that would get hot.

It probably depends on what temperature is defined as "hot". 40 degrees C, not worried, 85 I would be; but I'm afraid that I don't know what the "normal" is.
