Torque settings

Post by les »

I been using the search facility to find, what I was sure was a list of torque settings for the 1098 engine, with no success, can anyone tell me if such a list does indeed exist or not please ?

A incomplete listing can be found in the mechanical section under thread sizes.
The rear engine plate bolts are torqued to 25 lbf ft.
Flywheel bolts are torqued to 40 lbf ft.

The Marina BL workshop manual gives far more torque settings than the Minor wksp manual and is worth obtaining.

Yes I came across that after posting, I should have posted to say. However good of you to let me know, and you know the torques I was looking for !! Along with the flywheel lock washers loctite was used, I’m cleaning it off the bolts but can’t get in to clean the inner threads.
Should I also use some loctite ? I also removed the oil pump to renew the gasket while I can, I expect you would suggest just greasing the gasket ?

I use methylated spirits and a pipe cleaner type brush to clean internal threads with a blast of compressed air to fully dry them off.
Using Loctite to secure the flywheel bolts as well as the lock washers will do no harm.
Yes to greasing the oil pump gasket.
I would advise that some engine build fluid or similar is put into into the pump before fitting as that will help prime it and get the oil pressure up quicker.
The oil pump bolt torque is 9 lbf ft.
