The replacement glove box liners that I hav einstalled do not have pre-drilled holes for access to the speedo screws. Yes , after carefully marking out , you could drill a holes yourself. Up to now however, for the installation of additional gauges and other electrical system, the glove boxes need to be removedfor total access . It is only now , because of the voltage stabiliser that I have ever need to look behind the speedo alone.

Just glad the problem has been rectified.

Hi all,

As I got rid off mystery readings of my temperature gauge I modified the voltage stabilzer. After opening the housing you’ll find a simple bimetal switch in it that delivers a sawtooth-like output voltage which should be somewhat 10V. I installed a small electronic voltage stabilizer with two small tantal-capacitors at the input and output instead and mounted it into the original housing. Now I have a perfectly stabilized voltage to exactly 10V and all the mystery readings of the connected gauges are gone.
What was good enough 60 years ago can be improved easily nowadays if originality in hidden parts is not important.

I have the same problem! I was hoping that the half full reading would decrease as I actually reached less than half a tank. Meaning that the gauge would work but only for reading the lower half of the tank.

This thread will be useful to me once I am home and have the chance to sort it out. Thank you!
