Recommendations for restoration companies
I’m looking to get my traveller restored. Unfortunately, Charles Ware has now closed its workshops and I’m not that happy with garage they sold that part of the business too. Has anyone used any of the companies that advertise in Minor Matters? I’m in Somerset but I’m happy to travel as my Moggie drives really well but needs some bodywork attention. It would be helpful to get a recommendation if possible. Thanks.

Tim Lang are based in Somerset. It doesn’t say on their website if they do paint work but if they don’t they will probably be able to recommend someone.Have you contacted your local MMOC branch. They can sometimes make good suggestions.

I wouldn't have recommended Wares but ESM did some good repair work to the floor of my car and their mechanical work seems sound (It was this aspect that I feel was most lacking at Wares).

ESM are good but they have long waiting times for big restorations. I have watched them working on my car recently and they are very competent and nice people too. They have not done bodywork or paint for me but I have seen their work at the workshop and the Morris J van they restored looked absolutely superb.

I had good experiences with Quest Brothers in St Ives (Cambridgeshire) when I lived over there. They do all marques but I've seen their work on Minors which was excellent.
Slightly closer to Somerset there is Stephen B of Mostly Minors in Twyning Green (Gloucestershire) but he's a one-man operation with a waiting list.

The other thing to mention is that small or single-handed operations may be under the VAT threshold and that’s a significant saving.

Minor Services, Ely who advertise in the magazine restored mine and my sister in laws Minors and I couldn't recommend them highly enough
The waiting list is usually over a year though.
