I pushed out the Trav at dawn to check the brakes and do a bit of greasing before the sun was up and after sitting outside all day I've just put it away. I noticed that the Smith's water temperature gauge was reading 90F even without the engine started!

Re: Hot day!
I've had the same, seeing the needle jump before I start the engine!
Driving for the past few days has resulted in the back of my shirt becoming drenched with sweat, even on a short drive. I saw the temperature gauge creeping up over 90°C yesterday afternoon and the engine seemed to be threatening to get vapour lock!

I had the same. Vinyl seats and boiling hot weather do not go together!
I also made the mistake of deciding to replace the trunnion and eye bolt bushes in that blistering heat. What was I thinking?!
