Sealing rear of window frames

Post by culp »

Hello, I've fitted the stainless steel window frames to the doors on my 1970 Traveller. I'm aware that this is going to leak at the spot where the rear of the stainless frame goes into the door shell. I had some perished bits of rubber when I took the door apart which I assume were the seal for this part.

Does anyone have any pictures or references of what this part of the car is supposed to look like

Good job! That looks very similar to the original ones on my car.

I had the same issue. The part is not available anywhere that I could find. My blue '62 saloon has the original (painted over) seals, like this. I cut a bit of the bonnet seal rubber to make new ones for my '68 Traveller, like this. The profile was about right, and it worked pretty well.

I used Sugru which is an mouldable, air setting rubber compound to make a fillet around the frame. I didn't do the neatest job so will probably re-do it in the future.
