A rare find indeed! To find a vehicle of that age that hasn't been mucked about with much, if at all, is unusual these days.

It would indeed Iain, and thanks all for the nice comments, I will be putting some more detailed pictures on here when it has had a good polish i think most of the original tool kit is in the boot so i will need to sort all the bits out as it came with a few boxes and a fair old history file.

A very nice find indeed.
Looking forward to the next set of pictures. Will you take it to the National?
Best wishes,
Mike.

We have no plans to go to the national, the last few days we have been checking the car over and getting it running better as it was firing on three and as it had not really been used for a few years, it starts pretty well now but the brakes need looking at.

Re: 1955 split screen purchase
We had a nice run out Sunday to test the brakes, it just needed the slack tacking up on the rod from the master cylinder and the floor was as good as new so i took a picture.

You don't often see a floor as good as that!

Re: 1955 split screen purchase
We found a bit more time to give the Minor a look over and checks the brakes on the rear which just needed a dusting out so next is the sump gasket and sorting out teh water pump as it is a bit noisy, i am pretty sure i have a nearly new cast iron pump to keep it looking original or i will get the old one rebuilt, the under arch area has just been wiped over and has come up looking great.

The wheelarch is in incredible condition for a car of that age. That area usually gets a bit of a hammering from stones flung up and the accumulation of mud which encourages rust. It must have led a gentle, cosseted life for most of its 67 years!

Re: 1955 split screen purchase
We did the water pump today and it was nice to see under the radiator and inside the engine block they were both very clean areas, the fluid in the radiator looked like water rather than antifreeze but it must be some kind of antifreeze i have not seen before so any info on that would be usefull.

Re: 1955 split screen purchase
The water pump was squeaking but no leaks and the front seal was making a nice oil drip, I had the pump rebuilt and the front seal was the felt type which had failed as the metal cover inside was badly soldered on so i opted for a later front cover and modern seal, I know its not original but without removing the bottom pulley you cannot tell, all the bits have been cleaned up and painted so it will keep it neat.
