Wiring a Stereo

Post by New_Boy_Traveller »

OK Guys, havent put anything on for a while and you will be pleased to know the car is now on the road!!!

I want to put a cd player in the car, it is negative earth.

I obviously want it to work on the ignition etc.

I have a bit of electrical knowledge so will keep up with what you say, and a diagram would be awesome.

Ok,

This is from the Blaupunkt Uk dealer. It's the wiring diagram for the ISO connectors!
http://www.bluespot.co.uk/stock/iso.asp

I have no advice regarding the CD Player!

There isn't an easy way to get it to work via the ignition - if you're thinking of the modern "Acc" terminal. - the switch doesn't have one.

I've put my radio/tape player in the passenger glove box, running the wires inside the dash. Speakers are in the side panels just above the parcel shelf.

I've also installed an on/off rocker switch, so that I can turn it all off (except for the "memory" connection - that's the "battery +12v" connection), when I'm leaving the car.

Have a quick search for this topic - ther's been lots of vies expressed.

Hi, I was totally evil and piggybacked onto the wiper circuit, so it disconects when the switch is turned off (ignition not wiper) :)
I have mounted mine in the glovebox. My sons (he has a MM) is in the center of the dash, we took off the front panel, put the radio in the hole, and made a nice wood surround for it.It looks good, even if I say so myself :)
