nah - it's inverse to that.You learn something new every day, i thought that the more air the engine sucked in the more it "sucked" on the vacuum unit.
The vacuum advance is a fuel economy thing. It allows the timing to advance when you are OFF the gas, thus giving more power for less fuel. The same can't be done when you are on the gas as this would cause pinking and wreck the engine - therefore the advance works from the inlet manifold vaccum (when you open the throttle, the vaccuum goes and the vac-advance lreleases the dizzy)
