I’m doing an engine overhaul on my 63 4 door, with 1098 motor and a couple of questions have come up
Firstly there appearers to be a restrictor in the oil feed for the rear main bearing (I don’t see one on the parts list) I can see the one in the center camshaft bearing feed but not for the main bearing. The reason I ask is I can’t get my brush through for cleaning or a rod for that matter.
This is the rear main on the right.
Secondly it appearer that the rear camshaft bearing has no oil feed to it, how therefore is it lubricated, I can only guess that it is splash fed.
No oil way in the camshaft bearing
No drilling from the main bearing to the camshaft.
The water jacket is getting a good clean as well and new core plugs fitted.
Any thoughts on the best way to get rid of the rust and crud in the block and head

Re: A couple of questions 1098 Engine rebuild.
The best way of getting rid of the internal rust in the block is to replace the core plugs, fit the water pump, blank off the heater return into the bottom hose, turn the bottom hose upside down and fill the block with a mixture of 6 desert spoons of citric acid to 1ltr of hot water and leave for a while. Flush the block when you are happy with the rust removal result. I have just done two engine blocks in much worse condition than yours and they came up like new.
You will not get a rod or a brush through that oil gallery as the oil gallery is intersected by another oil gallery serving the oil pressure relief valve. Oil goes around the outside of the oil pressure relief valve housing. See the sectioned block below.
Do not under any circumstances damage the oil pressure relief valve housing as they are no longer available.

Could you use white vinegar?
I imagine filling the water ways and leaving for a few hours/days will do a good job.
I have used this method before with cleaning metal detecting finds and it does work well
