Here is a 803cc 'A' Series for sale on 'e' bay. For the price well worth a punt.

Parts are getting harder to find, so I’ve started hoarding..
Once I've got mine out, and I'm confident with the running of the 1098, I'd be happy to hand over my current 803. It has had a very recent rebuild done, fresh paint and gaskets too (not by my hand, PO)

So I bit of an update here.

I had everything out and was even able to sell on the shell, leaving me with nothing but space to work, an engine, gearbox and axle! All going great.

Well, that was until someone in this lockdown had too much free time and broken into my garden and stole my axle and gearbox... Sat outside the garage under a cover whilst I tore down the engine.

Now I'm at an impass here. Do I source a new transmission and full axle? Sell my current 1098 and buy a different engine? (To save on trying to haul an entire axle home) What are my options as far as replacing the 803 engine goes?

I live in a nice area as well, I was not expecting this at all... :(

Some people make a good case for castration.
Assuming you still have everything else, then it will be simplest to source a replacement for what was stolen.
Obviously access to what you now need, thanks to this tw*t, will depend on location. Although you can always buy now and collect after it has been lifted.

Hi Mike,

Ever so helpful as always. I've opted to start from square one with this and did some research. I was able to palletise and sell my remaining 1098cc engine to someone, so I put it back together and shipped it yesterday. It was good experience to get into it, so I definitely don't regret anything here.

But since I'm spending money on buying parts I've decided to go for the 948cc engine and gearbox swap. Seems like it may be less hassle than trying to transport and fit the rear axle and I can retain my old pudding gearstick without much work.

It is such a shame this never came to fruition. I will likely still need guidance during the next chapter though so the madness doesn't stop here.

Hi bud
Possibly sourced an engine, so that will be great if I can get them both within budget. How much are you looking for it?

I got it with some other bits and haven’t used it so I can’t vouch for it’s condition, in view of your unfortunate theft you can have it if you collect.

Hi Andy,
I have a 948 4.55 diff in good cleaned up condition (images below), yours for £100 plus postage if your interested
I was going to wait until the lockdown was over and stick it eBay, offering the option of cash on collection but this also depends on where people live.
I am located in Mansfield, Notts., if you want it and prefer to collect.
Best wishes,
Mike.

Thanks bud. I've found a 4.55 diff offered by another member. I'll see what's on offer and will make a decision. Yours is very good nick though, I must say
