Petrol sender unit

Hi, What is the best material for petrol tank sender unit. I have to replace the cork type on a regular basis. Saw a rubber one advertised as petrol proof but it failed completely within a few months. Screws are still tight when i come to replace gasket.

Hello Bill,
I can only give you my experience. When I replaced my cork gasket, it started to leak when I went to fill up with fuel, so I tightened up the screws a bit and it stopped. But a few weeks later the same thing happened, so I tightened it up again and that cured it for good. It might help to lightly grease the gasket top and bottom, but I never did that myself - probably would have if it had started to leak a third time!

Yes, that's the stuff , comes in different thicknesses , but 1.5mm should do fine , the only other thing you need is a craft knife/scalpel.

Clean both mating faces thoroughly for an even surface. Smear a little blue Hylomar on both sides of the cork gasket. Tighten down opposing screws one turn at a time and you should only nip them up until the Hylomar oozes out. Overtightening gaskets distorts them and that's why they leak.
