Van rear dampers

I’ve had a bit of a root around in the depths of the forum, and it’s been mentioned that Volvo or MK1 Escort dampers MAY fit. Does anyone have a definitive answer? Mine’s an 8cwt and as I’ll be using it as a work van it could be occasionally loaded close to its intended max. ESM etc only seem to do a cheap and cheerful option.
