Thanks very much, that confirms what I believed I had done with the negative camber versions that I have made for our Minor. As standard there is a 0.125" (approx.) washer, and sometimes more, between the chassis rail and the head of the eye bolt, and I calculated that I needed an additional 0.500" offset, so starting with 0.875", I would need 0.875" + 0.125" +0.500" = 1.500" to give the additional 0.500" offset.
I already have a stiffener on the side of the chassis rail that is ~0.125", so for me the 0.875" dimension would need to be 1.375", which checking the drawing I made at the time it is! Sounds a bit tortuous, but I had to make sure that I am starting from the correct datum point, if I am to make eye bolts for someone other than myself.
John and I are in communication about the offset(s) he needs, so when the material arrives next week, I will be able to start making them immediately.
I have made some longer eye bolt pivot pins in EN8. Done to accommodate improved anti-roll bar rear end mounting brackets and link.
The mount brackets fit between the thick/thin arms so requires 9mm spacers and therefore longer eye bolt pins to suit.
The Marina/Ital lower swivel trunnion pin has longer threaded ends and can be used with the 9mm spacers without difficulty.
The rear thick arm remains in its original position and the thin arm is spaced forward therefore steering geometry remains the same.
An interesting combination of changes to make. For the pins, EN8 is a good choice, as it is stronger and tougher than EN3, so should wear better as well.
Unfortunately no good for the type of antiroll bar fitted to your Minor as the end of the 1970s period antiroll bar fitted to my Minor is formed into a loop.
Modified Vauxhall Astra antiroll bar links are used between the bracket (fitted between the thick/thin arms) and the loop of the antiroll bar.
The whole eye bolt is completely symmetrical about the pin diameter - including the chamfers! The picture was taken quite close up, so the view has become quite distorted.
