Sorry this is just useless without a picture ! Were the holes always there ? Have you taken something out ? Was the block away at a machine shop to be re-bored ? Where are the mystery holes - we deserve to be told !

If, as you say, coolant runs past these 'holes' then it will leak water, not much doubt about that! Does sound like you are talking about core plugs, but then again if you have done an engine rebuild, I'm sure you would know about such things. So maybe a photo. Can you see rusty cylindrical shaped metal through these holes?

Don't understand the 3-4 bit! Either there are 3 or there are 4 - which is it !! In what way were you 'rebuilding' the engine ? How big are the holes ? We can't help you without some more information !!!!

You may be able to get them at an engine reconditioner or even somewhere like Esm at Stonegate. You'd have a job fitting them from the inside! Push the plugs in with a smear of red hermatite then give them a smart tap on the dome to tighten them.

On the couple of core plugs I have replaced I put them in dry with no sealant and there were not leakage problems.
Cheers

Be sure to clean up the edge faces on the block before fitting the new core plugs. You could get them mail order next day from eg MOSS or Minispares - or Bull Motif.
