Crankshaft
My question concerns crankshafts. Do the 948cc and the 1098cc engines employ the same crankshaft? Thank you Telpet

Re: Crankshaft
In reply to your question - the answer is ................ No.
The crankshafts have slightly different strokes.
948cc stroke..............3.00"
1098cc stroke.............3.296"
Both of the above dimensions are taken from the BMC Minor wksp manual.
The part number for the 948cc crankshaft is 2A828 (MOSS)
The part number for the 1098cc crankshaft is 8G2732 (MOSS)

Re: Crankshaft
Many thanks for your help. I could have made a mistake. A friend 'thought' they were the same. The lesson here is obtain advice from someone who actually knows. Again, the value of having access to first rate technical know how through the club is well demonstrated.
Thank you, Telpet
