Front wheel bearings
I should have asked this before ordering but here goes. I've ordered SKF 7205bep and 7303bep. Am I ok with them?

Les
See this old thread especially the post from IslipMinor dtd 13th Sept 2014.
You should be able to extract the relevant information/requirements from the thread.

7205BECBP.................Inner.
7303BECBP.................Outer.
Quoting IslipMinor...................
The BEP = Basic Design
and the BECEP = Universally matchable bearings
The bearings you have ordered will be satisfactory but the preference overall appears to be - use the BECEP bearings.

Re: Front wheel bearings
Thanks Phil, the info is reassuring, I read from link that the higher spec bearing is possibly rated at higher load/ revs but possibly/probably higher spec than original. I'm pretty happy with my order, weighing everything up.

Re: Front wheel bearings
If it's the same problem as mine , I found that taking a little ( 10 20 thou ) off the central spacer tube did the trick...

Re: Front wheel bearings
Thats exactly what I did on my traveller when I put new bearings in - had to take a few thou off the spacers.

Re: Front wheel bearings
Yes it may come to that, hopefully won't wreck the new bearing when it gets knocked out.

Re: Front wheel bearings
weird that the bearings would be a (albeit very slight) different size - I bought some BECPs recently as I think my front bearings are on their way out thinking they would be an exact fit as they were the same as original. I hope I don't have the same issue as you Les - did you get it fixed?
Re: Front wheel bearings
Not fixed, I'm reluctant to alter the spacer, as I dare say one of the bearings will need removing and knocking back more than once to get the spacer length right, risking damage. I'll be keeping my eye out for a front hub with hopefully decent bearings fitted. Hopefully you could be ok as you have the becp bearings.

I have a spare Minor front hub spacer sat doing nothing if it is any good to you.
I also have a pair of Minor complete front hubs assys fitted with if I remember correctly good bearings but I will check and get back to you if you require them.

Re: Front wheel bearings
Seems like a few of us have had problems with the spacer!
I had probs with my front bearings many years ago where the bearing outer was moving in the hubs, used loctite etc but problem still recurred.
Had new hubs and measured the distance between bearing inner shoulders and the spacer and from memory the spacer was about .006 too long.
Removed excess material and they have both been fine for years now!

I have checked both hubs and bearings and without stripping the hubs and cleaning out the old grease from the bearings the bearings - that is both inner and outer appear to be ok for both hubs.
