Spraying Wheels

Post by Arfron »

If you are spraying your wheels and need to mask the valves -- try using a bit of plastic tubing ( large ) Split the tube , put the tube around the valve -- bit of tape on the joint --- job done !! Saves trying to fight the masking tape , when you are trying to get it off the valve , after spraying !!!  Arfron

Another tip,

Take a bar of soap and rub it on your tire. Cover the tire completely. Paint the tire, then wash the soap from the tire. The layer of soap will prevent paint from adhereing to the tire.

however if you do get paint on your tyre valve it will come off the rubber part as the rubber flexes. When i resprayed my wheels I just put masking tape at the top (lid) of the valve. On theis matter can anyone tell me if my 1969 1098 saloon should have cream or silver wheels? And is it possible to 'paint whitewalls one with some sort of kit, I dont have a steady hand!

A 1969 car should have dark silver wheels.
