Hi,
I have now fitted some Lucas type Trafficator switches on a fabricated panel, the black one operates the later indicators, via a flasher can. The white one (as the original switch was white) operates the Trafficators, with flashing LEDs installed, so modern people understand them......
Those that understand the necessity of actually indicating your intended direction, before turning, that is..............
What I'd really like now is one of those 'Trafficators in use' stickers for the back windscreen. Does anyone know where to obtain one?

............. which is why I have kept the indicators too............. (although they are no longer mounted on the front panel)

6mm perspex cut to size required, drilled to suit (for the switches) and a re-inforced L shape created with the use of Gorilla super glue. I used a metal file to round the corners of the front piece.
Glue allowed to set for 24hours, sanded with medium sandpaper for a keying surface, then wiped with thinner to degrease and sprayed satin black, allowed to harden, then finished with wrinkle paint (spray can), for that period modification look (I hope).
Screwed in place with two self tappers for strength.

The rear windscreen is small enough without blocking it with stickers
You can wire the trafficators and indicators to work off one switch, there is a wiring diagram available.
The trafficator bulbs can be replaced with flashing led bulbs
Got mine today. Larger than the old one and removable/reusable. Old one was single-use only. Down-side is Help for Heroes sticker had to go. No room for both on S.II screen.

Another version, this time with an isolator switch to turn off the trafficators. This is what we have, using the redundant interior light switch in a convertible. Slightly more complicated, as it needs 2 standard 4-pin relays as well as 2 flasher units, but trafficators aren't too keen on motorway speeds!

markattard - if your Moggie currently has indicators utilising the Lucas DB10 system left installed from where they introduced the flashing brake light, then it's just a case of picking up a connection to each trafficator from terminals 4 and 8, which are the 2 feeds from the indicator switch. https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/ ... 0105_4.jpg
I see your location is Malta, so I guess you're not concerned about Motorway speeds! But that's a good point raised by IslipMinor. I've yet to reinstate mine (I know they work but there's no wiring at present) so I'll bear that in mind.
Most people under about 45 haven't the foggiest idea what a trafficator is. For these drivers the arm and the sticker will be equally meaningless.
Quite possibly, however I think if they are used often enough people will get the idea.
I use mine on a regular basis around Mansfield to enlighten people.
I think the 'flashicator' bulbs help though, as they read the sign on the rear window, then see the arm raised and the bulb flashing, just like an indicator and so the penny drops................
I think it's great having them working again but I can understand the advantage of having both and the fact that indicators might be more suitable on motorways.
