Email scam - again

For a variety of personal reasons I've not been on the MMOC site for several months. I've just started using it again regularly via my mobile phone. I have an email address linked to this site only. Past two weeks I've had five emails or texts supposedly from HMRC requesting personal information in order to process my alleged tax refund. I know other members have raised this problem in the past. I was under the impression that the recent site upgrades should have put an end to the problem but apparently not. On a related matter can anyone explain the validity of the various 'bots' in the chat forums?
