Thanks for all your advice,I put in the wet gauge and turned it over without the plugs in and the needle didn't even flicker.So I spoke to a mechanic mate and he said it ounds like we are going to have to take the engine out and investigate.He then said that I should put the plugs back in and start the engine,he said you don't have much to lose if it knackers the bearings then he doesn't think that it will damage the crank,so go for it.I did any got oil pressure immediately it started and the engine sounded as sweet as a nut,I know you didn't want me to start it but it was such a relief seeing the oil pressure on the gauge,hope I got away with it !!
