Hi all. Anybody know a good way of repairing this?
I was thinkingof welding the eyebolt tube to a plate. Pushing the plate against the chassis leg, so that the tube will sit in the original hole on the other side of the chassis leg. Tack in place and try on the eyebolt and torsion bar to ensure all lines up okay.
Then proceed to welding all around the tube and then weld the plate to good metal on chassis leg.
Does this sound okay?

The best bet is to cut out the old leg and weld in a completely new one - they are available with the eyebolt mounting hole and the tie rod bracket already in place. Take some measurements and/or make a jig before you remove the old one!
All you need do is mark the remaining section of chassis leg a known distance from the centre of the suspension mounting hole.
When you remove the old leg you will be left with the bolt holes for the engine mount. These get you in about the correct position and a bolt here holds things in place nicely while you set up. A few minor fore and aft taps until your suspension mounting hole is in the correct position and you are done.
Obviously you can measure from as many points as you see fit but really you only need a decent fore aft datum for the half chassis leg.
Did one a couple of weeks ago. Definitely not worth messing about repairing this area. Just stick a new half chassis leg in.
Hi Andy, just seen your reply about the chassis leg, and I have a question about the same subject. Is it possible to replace a chassis leg with the engine in the car and the car placed on Axle stands? Is there room enough to to get under the car without using a car lift?
