Black primer

Any recommendations for a good tough primer ( I need it in black)
The car is black but with lots of areas of filler and grey primer, I just want to consolidate the whole thing and make it look a bit better before I get round to painting it 'properly' ( one day maybe! )
I'm looking for a Matt black primer that I can blow on with rattle cans that hopefully won't fall off, as I'll be driving the motor most days.
Obviously I could get any old black primer from halfords or whatever, but was hoping someone could suggest something with a very hard robust finish

not sure what you are trying to achieve,primer goes on under topcoat,is soft and porous and will absorb water,it requires topcoat to seal it,its main function is to bond to bare metal and hold the eventual topcoat.If all you are trying to do is tidy up over existing primer just buy a matched rattle can and use that.If the old primer has been on a long time there is probably now rust underneath it and will be damp so needs drying out before anything goes on top of it.

I take your point, I was hoping to simply be able to blow some primer on that I could subsequently rub down and go over with a final coat later on, I wanted black to make the motor less of a patchwork.
I was trying to find a decent one that would serve until then. I wasn't aware primers were porous tbh.
I will probably just do as you suggest and blow a coat of halfords finest on and do it properly in the summer !

Trouble is, I'll probably end up spending a tenner in petrol driving round looking for these 99p offers !

I got some U-pol etch primer from Ebay and it is very dark, almost looks matt black, £34 for 6 500ml cans delivered half the price of my local stockist, saves on time and fuel...
