Fuel pump

Post by murray33 »

Hiya, started my engine for the first time in a couple of days, after changing the timing cover seal, but the fuel pump keeps clicking and fuel is absolutely pouring out of the carb! Anyone any ideas please?
Cheers

Murray (?),

The fuel pump's doing what it should do!
You'll need to check the float, float chamber (for grot & grit), blow through the valve, and possibly change the valve.
Oh yes, and check the fuel pipe clamps.

Of course - but it's now flooding petrol uncontrollably into your engine ! Was the carb disturbed in any when doing the timing cover seal ? Sometimes a sharp 'knock' on the side of the float bowl will stop it flooding - but best to open it and check anyway.
