Hello. I've had the minor off the road for a good while now to have things replaced and checked, such as the gearbox, clutch, throttle cable, dizzy, oil filter, air filter, various gaskets and such.
Doing this, understandably I had to remove quite a bit to get to things, mostly the gearbox, so a big chunk of the vehicle came out. After everything had been checked, I'm in the process of putting things back, and all is going well. Apart from the wiring, does anyone have a simple and easy way of wiring everything back together, as I've checked out the diagram, and it's not for me.
I'm in the process of trying to get it to fire up for the first time in a little while, as I've changed the plugs, HT leads, dizzy cap, rotar arm and other things so I'm not very far at all in terms of completion. Hopefully with a helpful explanation about wiring, I can have it back up in no time at all.
Also, as a side question, the minor has a elec ignition in it, accu-spark to be precise, with a much older looking coil. How long do the electronic ignitions tend to last? and how long is the average life in a coil?. It's a bosch coil, and through looking around, I can't see any of these for sale which leads me to think it was a long time ago that this was bought and fitted.
Thanks

Re: Wiring diagram
Martin,
Bosch coils actually have a good reputation and if it is working I wouldn't change it and certainly not for the repro rubbish on the market today. The Accuspark units have terrible distributor caps with carbon brushes that don't last. I went through two of them in the last year. The "distributor doctor" recommends his own cap or the "Lucas" (whichever hut that comes from) with the brass HT lead inserts.

I chucked out the Accuspark cap and replaced it with a FACET cap which is very nicely made.

It is too early to tell but it couldn't be worse than the Accuspark.
Just my opinion
