Does anyone know the answer to a couple of questions?
Our 1969 minor we have doesn't seem to have a windscreen washer installed, though there does seem to be a plunger type button and a couple of holes in the scuttle panel just in front of the windscreen. Were these factory fitted and if so, anyone know where I can pick up the relevant bits and bobs?
Will it pass an MOT without a washer?
Cheers
Tim

Re: Windscreen washers
You will need washers for the mot. When they were made compulsory in the 70s the law was (unusually) made retrospective and they had to be fitted to older cars. The only exception is if your windscreen opens.

AFAIK, all 1962-on Minors (1098cc) had the plunger type manual windscreen washer pump fitted as standard.
I upgraded mine to electric washers years ago, as the plunger type pumps tend to be a bit feeble.

I believe windshield washers were available dealer-fitted options, like radios, but I'm sure they were not standard from the factory on any Minors. I'll have a look in the Newell bible this evening.

Re: Windscreen washers
As far as I recall Chipper is correct. From around 1962 all Minors were factory fitted with windscreen washers.
I don't recall seiing a Minor later than that which didn't have them fitted. The jets were black plastic and fitted to the bulkhead.
My 1961 Traveller however had chrome plated jets fitted to the bonnet as a later addition.
