Faulty indicators

Post by Coleortonpopper »

Hi
A frustrating problem I would like some help with please. When ignition turned on, green indicator light on end of stalk comes on and remains on and does not flash. Illuminates whether stalk is in central position or for left / right. None of the indicators work. I have checked all 4 indicator bulbs and ok. Cleaned and replaced with a smear of Vaseline. Would welcome any advice on the logical stages to take.
Thanks
Mike

Sound like wrong connections at the flasher unit - or it has failed.Has this just happened 'suddenly' - ? Take all 3 wires off the flasher unit and join them together temporarily - do they work now - obviously not flashing  ?

Check the earth for the indicator stalk also, bad earths do very strange things sometimes.

Hi
Thanks for that. The lights did dramatically fail yesterday morning just before we were due to leave for a show! Have done what you suggested and the indicators work correctly but don't flash. So, I guess a failed flasher unit which I will order and replace. Many thanks once again.
