New minor owner

Post by Gavin3659 »

Hi
Having just recently bought a minor I thought I better join this excellent forum. I have bought a four door 1956 splitscreen with the 948 engine. It needs a good bit of tidying up and electrical work but I am enjoying working on it. I live in Dalry in North Ayrshire. Here is a picture which hopefully the moderators can rotate because I can't!

Thanks Gavin

Did you check the MOT history before buying??? Has the corrosion been properly fixed - or just bodged and undersealed (mentioned on the MOT) to get it a Pass? Never buy a car without checking the MOT history - and indeed without a BRAND NEW MOT, even though it doesn't need one.......

Hi and welcome,
I just bought a splittie too, I'm looking enviously at your windscreen chrome, as some kind soul decided not to refit mine at some point in the past..... :(
Good luck with getting it back on the road, I drove mine back from Newcastle and then (after some fettling) to the national (twice) this weekend.
Now for some more fettling...... :P
Best wishes,
Mike.

1970 Triumph Herald 1200: "Hetty" -- Driven back from Llangollen in Wales (twice.....)
1952 Morris Minor MM highlight with sidevalve engine still fitted, wants work, so joins the queue for now......

Mike

Good luck finding one - it seems to be one of those nightmare parts. At least you are clocking up some miles. I am still in the middle of redoing the brakes with my brothers (mechanic) help. So far tho it's all been good fun.

Cheers Gavin

Hi Gavin and welcome to the messageboard!

Do you know there is a register for series 11 vehicles that are remaining, its worth getting your chassis number and details listed. They have a website and facebook page.
