Strip down

Post by cplnobbie »

Hi all
Can I ask if there is an list somewhere for the order in which to strip down a Morris to a rolling shell or even to the point of a shell that could be dipped .

Regards

I started front to back. Make sure bag up a label everything even if your replacing the bit. Save every nut bolt and screw. Never know you might need it.

I reckon most things on a moggie are straightforward and straight backward.

You remove bits in any sensible order and make notes of each removal. Eventually you can turn yor list upside down and (if you can read your upside down writing) replacement is just a matter of going down that upside down list!

A bit like the early landrovers. Simple engineering. The only bit on a minor which may need careful adjustment seems to be the front suspension torsion sttings. Still relatively simple.

There may be some other exceptions, but I think not many.

i have done a few morris restorations and agree with what has already been mentioned, i also measured all the panel gaps round doors and bonnet etc by inserting drill bits as a measuring tool and make note then it gives you a good idea of what happened to it in its previous life so corrections can be made and also you don,t want it looking worse than when you started the job, enjoy, graham
