Exhuast straps

Post by stroprock »

Just bought some new exhuast straps for my Minor. I removed the exhaust a couple of years ago and, now I have the pipe lifted into place, I need to hang it on the straps. Does anyone have a picture of how these rubber straps actually fit? I know they use exhaust clamps to attach to eh pipe, but where and how to they attach to the body?

See attached link for assembly details.

http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-mo ... 5e387.html

The front strap is bolted through the body floor pan under the rear seat squab N/S. The there should be a 1/4" dia hole at the bottom of the slope.
The rear strap is bolted through the body floor pan in the boot N/S by the rear bumper iron on the upward sloping section. Again a 1/4" dia hole.

Slightly worried when you say 'rubber straps' - they should be fabric strip material - perhaps with some rubber impregnation ? Is that what you have ? 'Rubber' will allow too much movement.

Whatever ESM gave me.
I think, looking at the diagrams, I just need to fab up some angled brackets to join the clamps to the straps.

Hopefully they sent you the slightly more expensive 'canvas' straps - rather than the cheaper rubber versions.......

The ones I have are already fitted with a shaped metal end that fits to the curve of the exhaust and is secured with a normal U bolt type clamp.

Correct. ESM sell the metal parts separately. I'll be making my own though, I'm not paying one pound bloody fifty each for them :D
