CONVERTABLES
When looking at a restoration project,on a convertable and it`s a non original .How can you tell if it is a"good conversion" Also do they fetch much less than an original,when restored

Look at the corner of the dash and see if it has the extra triangular pieces, I believe inside the sills should also have a strengthener. I would also look at the V5 and check it says convertible, not that it shows any support to a decent job, but it shows an element of responsibility by the converter. Or, fold back the roof, open the doors and jump up and down in the car. If your mate can see it flexing or it snaps, don't buy it!
The other option is to buy a nice 2dr for £2000, then spend £1500 doing the conversion yourself - least then you know its done well and your'll save about £1000 on the price of buying a decent Convertible. This was going to be my 2nd option if I couldn't find a nice Traveller a couple of years ago.

As above, should come with documentation of who did the conversion; for example CW/ESM etc.
Don't rely on vin plate - if vin plate attached to a cardboard box, wouldn't make the cardboard box a GENUINE Minor convertible.

Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

Buy in winter as the price goes silly coming summer
.Why not look for a convertible project on ebay as there have been quite a few on lately
