Paint choices
Hi all members,I'm in the process of restoring a 4 door 1963 saloon and wanted to know what's the best option for painting the black parts, torsion bars, axle, propshaft etc...
I need this to be correct obviously, the way I look at it is there's 3 choices Gloss,Matt or Satin,so any opinions would be gratefully received.
Thanks Kev

Re: Paint choices
The torsion bars were silver
Re: Paint choices
Thanks for that Satin was my 1st choice and are you 100% about the silver torsion bars it would look better.
Re: Paint choices
They were not painted silver, in fact they were not painted at all, hence the self coloured finish of the "plating". Does anyone know what was used? Zinc? nickel? or other chemical treatment?

I didn't say they were "painted silver"
Re: Paint choices
I see what you were saying now,but the info was worth knowing..Thanks Kev
Re: Paint choices
'Chassis Black' for these parts - indeed the 'Garden Gate' paint in Poundland etc is ideal. Good thick/tough coating.

Re: Paint choices
What about the front tie bars - certainly silver on 3 of my 100% original vans?
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!
