Antifreeze

just sorting out my antifreeze and noticed that Halfords do one which they say is suitable for Morris - Halfords Silicate Antifreeze. I usually have the bluecol stuff or similar. Any experience of the Halfords one , as that way I don't have to resort to post and packing!

Just stick with Bluecol.

I also use the Halfords Silicate one as it is listed as suitable.
I know nothing about the science/pros & cons of different antifreeze but it seems to work ok & with my Halfords Trade Card the price comes down a bit as well..!

I have no idea what 'silicate' anti-f is - you want the good old ethylene glycol anti freeze. Usually BLUE in colour - and yes often containing some 'silicates' as inhibitors. But it's hardly the 'main ingredient' .Seems expensive for what it is....

I've used the Halfords one before. My radiator got punctured by a stone and it drained onto a car-park when I stopped. The anti-freeze mix then froze on the floor.

The "Evo-stik hard & fast metal epoxy putty" is absolute magic though!

Over on this side the caution is to stay away from extended life antifreeze. Make sure what you use is compatible with brass.
