Engine Change or rebuild

Post by simonk »

Hi I have a decision to make -
The engine in my daily driver/oily rag Minor (1098) is blowing oil out of the breather and is down on compression on one cylinder.
I am assuming rings broken and worn bores as 3 cylinders at 110 and lowest only 40.

I can either strip and rebuild - but obviously will be quite costly or get another engine -

Any suggestions for secondhand engines? These cars are so old now is there anything really usable out there?

It's seriously badly worn with these compressions. Look for a decent replacement urgently. You can always rebuild the old engine after you have done the swap.

Any suggestions as to a reliable source for a decent used engine?
