Silverlight
What is Silverlight? When I try to watch a Sky film (perfectly legitimately) on my laptop, it tells me i need Silverlight. Then when it's loaded, the film stutters and stumbles -and a message tells me 'Silverlight is slowing the computer'... So - what does it do - and is there a way round this - or an alternative I could use? Thanks as always for any advice offered! Roy

It was Microsofts attempt at an Adobe flash replacement, it never did well.
Microsoft announced the end of life of Silverlight 5 in 2012. In 2013, Microsoft announced that they had ceased development of Silverlight.
I'm surprised it's still in use, if you are using a browser to watch try another one.

Re: Silverlight
Thanks for that - switched to Firefox on that laptop and it works a treat on Sky.Go. The Monza GP was watched without any interruptions or grief.
