INFO ON ORIGINAL SPECKS

Post by EYEMAN4EVER »

Hi all, Can anybody help?
1) I need to know how the quarter glass of a 1952 MM was connected to the door. If any body has a picture it would be really helpful.
2) Was the front grill of a 1952 MM a separate piece or was it a part of the metal of the front of the car.

Thanks in advance.

I can recommend Ray Newell's book, Original Morris Minor. It has lots of pictures of the minor and a list of some changes by chassis number.

The one piece grill came in from March 51 with the optional extra of the chrome insert. For a time they also had painted hubcaps as there was a shortage of nickel for the plating. Ive seen a couple like this and in fact theres one on ebay for sale at the moment with this feature

I cant find the date for when the quarter light changed, it also depends if its a 2 door or 4 door. The car above has the later type catch but concealed hinges like the first tpye, later on the hinge was added to the outside. The rubbers are no longer available for the older type. I think by 52 it would have the ordinary hinge arrangement the same as minor 1000s.

Too many Minors so little time.....
