Think twice before a recore!

Hi all,
Just had my 1952 radiator recored and restored and although the result was excellent the cost exceeded that of a new replacement so unless you're a stickler for originality go for a new unit from Bull Motif!

The core is the same as a M1000 but the rest of the Series MM rad is different. I would be surprised if BM even stock Series MM rads let alone at less than the cost of a recore

Agreed, but the BM high top rad would surely fit OK and look the part even if it is a modern replacement?
I dare say an original leak free early rad is impossible to find these days so I am quite chuffed that I now have two of them!

The original Series MM rads and the high top Series 2 rads were both three rows thick on the core, which I haven't seen any specialists offering. I don't think anyone makes new MM rads, but ESM offer new high top Series 2 rads, probably only with a double core, which tbh is enough for an A series.
I had a Series MM radiator rebuilt a few years back for about £130 with a new triple core on the theory that a none water pump engine needs a good radiator...

There's some odd looking repro Minor 1000 rads about now with extra pressing grooves on the header tank (presumably its a pressed header tank for something else that's been adapted). I expect they'll do the job fine if you're not bothered about looks.

The Series MM rad has different top and bottom tanks and the hoses are on different sides
