Hello,
The rear leaf springs on my car are looking a bit rusty, but otherwise sound. I'm thinking of jacking up the rear and wire brushing them off but I'm wondering if there is something to put on them afterwards to keep the rust at bay - WD 40? oil? waxoyl?
Advice welcome.
Pete

Any oil or grease will just attract dirt and form a grinding paste... Wire brush by all means.

I was told a good use for old engine oil is to slap it on the springs, haven't tried it though! ;)

There's no point -they need renewing every 20 years or so anyway...
